W3 professorship for Biochemistry (m/f/d)

in the Institute for Biochemistry as soon as possible. The position can be as a civil servant or employee on the basis of the W3 remuneration scheme. Depending on the individual selected, a temporary appointment may be considered.

Area of Responsibility:

    The successful candidate is expected to be able to cover the complete teaching of biochemistry offered to students of veterinary medicine and biology. Teaching is in form of lectures, tutorials and seminars. This also includes the teaching of courses in the PhD programmes offered by TiHo. In addition, teaching of chemistry is expected to be organised in cooperation with other institutions of TiHo. The candidate is expected to develop innovative teaching and learning concepts.

    The research focus of the successful candidate should focus on the investigation of (bio)chemical mechanisms by developing innovative concepts and utilising state-of-the-art molecular biochemical methods. Advances in knowledge for veterinary medicine are expected, for example, regarding the development of diagnostics and therapeutics for clinical application under the One Welfare paradigm. The research profile should align with the main research areas of TiHo, and we seek an individual eager to establish collaborations with institutes and clinics at TiHo as well as with research institutions in Hannover and Lower Saxony. Integration into existing networks at TiHo and participation and establishment of new research networks is a desirable.

Requirements:

    An international research profile with several years of experience and excellent publications as well as acquisition of third-party funding in biochemical research relevant to veterinary medicine is expected, as is with (inter)- national cooperations. Relevant experience in academic leadership and management is desirable.

    Further requirements for employment are a degree in veterinary medicine, biology, biochemistry or a related life science with a relevant specialisation. We expect a high level of teaching experience, a doctorate, habilitation or equivalent scientific qualification.

    Evidence for completion of courses in university didactics should be provided together with results of teaching evaluations. Additional recruitment requirements are regulated in § 25 of the Lower Saxony Higher Education Act (NHG).
